Meet Your CCSC Members

Vivian Chen is a Class of 2017 Representative. She is involved in Columbia Global Brigades, Columbia Association of Pre-Dental Students, and is a teaching assistant for Professor Lise Hazen's Contemporary Biology Lab. 

Stephan Montes is one of three Columbia College Class of 2018 Class Representatives. Formerly a Resident Adviser in Carman Hall, Stephan is currently a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and a member of Columbia Against Cancer. He is a John Jay Dining Hall loyal and in his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball and watching romantic comedies. 

Sophie Broadbent is the Sophomore Class President. On campus, she is also a member of Lion Fund. Sophie enjoys going to concerts and Broadway shows.  

'Siddharth Singh is the Freshman Class President. He hopes that he can deliver on each platform that he and his team stood for during the elections- subway discounts, student apparel and water fountains. On campus, he's part of Sigma Phi Epsilon and his favourite dining hall is Ferris because of their omelette station. In his spare time he loves playing field hockey for NYCFHC and exploring the city.'

Sean Ryan is a senator for Columbia College and Co-Chair of the University Senate Student Affairs Committee, which represents all Columbia graduate and undergraduate students.  On the Senate, Sean's chief policy focuses are on university-wide concerns, student mental health and wellness, and student conduct processes. 

Ricardo Jaramillo is a representative for the Class of 2019. In addition to student council, he also serves as the outreach director for the Roosevelt Institute, Columbia's premier student-run progressive think tank, and also as an online writer for the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review. When not reading an endless amount of Politico articles, he might be found watching sci-fi TV shows that no one else knows about. 

Nicole Allicock is the Student Body President, a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, and a proud Linguistics major. Occasionally she takes a break from talking about CCSC to talk about her other great passion -- Ferris, the far superior dining hall.

Josh Schenk is a sophomore studying political science. He was elected to the University Senate in the spring of 2016 after serving as the Class of 2019 president. As president, Josh secured air conditioning installation in undergraduate housing, partnered with over 20 NYC restaurants to create a discount program for Columbia students, and launched a peer mentorship program for first-year students. Josh is originally from Los Angeles, where he served as an elected member of his school district’s board of education during his senior year of high school. 

John Avendano is the Junior Class Vice President. On campus, he is also on the Men's Varsity Fencing Team, Columbia Global Brigades, and is a COÖP leader. In his spare time he loves going to Chipotle and watching Suits and Arrested Development.

Jay Rappaport is a University Senator from Columbia College. In the Senate, Jay serves on the Rules Committee and Housing Policy Committee. Beyond student government on campus, Jay currently serves as the Democratic Access Center Director of the Roosevelt Institute at Columbia University, Co-Chair of Columbia University Bike Share, and a Columbia Outdoor Orientation Program (COÖP) leader. As he has said elsewhere, in his free time, Jay likes books, burritos, and baseball; he is a fan of the Yankees and John Steinbeck.

James Ritchie is the Vice President for the Columbia College Class of 2020.  He is involved on campus as a pledge of the Omega Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta and recently performed in a play for the Columbia University Players.  During his spare time you can find James watching his beloved Chelsea and Dallas Cowboys or else learning lines for some new theatrical endeavour.

Grant Pace is a representative for the Class of 2020. He's also involved with the EcoReps, John Jay Hall Council, and Columbia Queer Alliance. His favorite food is cheesecake, and his go-to dining hall is Ferris.

Dave Mendelson is the Pre-professional Representative, which means that he works with the CCE and student groups to ensure that resources to obtain jobs and internships are accessible and plentiful. His inability to grow robust facial hair and his affinity for suits makes the title "pre-professional" very apt. Dave is also a member of Lion Fund and the Columbia Debate Society.

Brennon Mendez is the Senior Class Vice President. On-campus, he has served on the Advisory Committee for Socially Responsible Investing as a member of the Private Prisons Subcommittee and Fossil Fuels Subcommittee. He has been involved in administration-facing activist groups including the Mental Health Task Force and the Coalition Against Sexual Violence, and has served on the boards of the Columbia Queer Alliance and the Mixed Race Student Society. 

Alex Cedar is a Representative for the Class of 2019 and a member of the CCSC Campus Life Committee. He is planning on double-majoring in Political Science and Film Studies. In addition to CCSC, Alex is Co-Chair of Third Wheel Improv. He enjoys following the English Premier League, watching performance groups on campus and exploring the city.

"Adam Resheff is the Sophomore Class Vice President. He is a Resident Advisor in Furnald, tutors through One-to-One tutoring and is a member of the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee. The best decision he's made during college (besides running for CCSC) was doing an impromptu beatbox tryout for an a cappella group on a dare during NSOP, in which he sang "Happy Birthday" as his audition song. To this day, he has no idea how he got a callback."
