Homecomings Speaker: Yoshikuni Igarashi, Professor of History, Vanderbilt University Moderator: TBD Yoshikuni Igarashi will discuss his recent publication, Homecomings (Columbia University Press, 2016), explaining how he uses the concept of belated return to question the postwar narrative of Japan’s swift recovery from the Asia Pacific War. To illustrate the book’s critical engagement with postwar Japan’s history, the talk examines the dramatic return of the soldiers who spent more than twenty-five years hiding in the South Pacific jungles.
